A "dermal filler", such as Juvederm^TM, may be used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and to enhance the lips.  The active ingredient in this product is hyaluronic acid, a substance which is naturally present in the skin.  Under local anesthesia, hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the unwanted lines to add smoothness to the skin.  The effect typically lasts 4 - 6 months. 

Reasons for Considering a Juvederm^TM Treatment

      - Deep facial lines, particularly of the nasolabial folds and lips

      - Thin or aged lips

General Procedure

The skin is anesthetized with local anesthesia.  Juvederm^TM is injected into the lines or along the pink roll of the lip until the desired fullness is achieved.  Ice is applied following the procedure.

Recovery Process

The treated area may be swollen for 24 to 48 hours.  Applying ice will help to decrease the swelling.  Arnica Montana gel may be used to minimize the bruising that may occur.
